HISTORY

Tom Hoff, President and CEO, founded One Call Concepts, Inc. in 1982. We are in our third decade of providing high-quality, value-oriented solutions to our clients for their damage prevention needs.

In 1984, OCC pioneered the use of then revolutionary 32-bit technology in its first generation of one-call software. We created the One Call Notification Center for Excavation (ONCE) software system. We harnessed the power of this new technology to meet the demands of the one-call consumer. ONCE employed a grid-cell database to deliver a cost-effective solution that quickly became an industry standard.

In 1987, OCC embarked on its most ambitious project to date: the creation of a cost- effective Geographic Information System (GIS) for one-call center use. In the late 1980’s, the possible uses of GIS systems were beginning to be understood. This new technology, applied to the one-call center, held the potential to save our clients millions of dollars annually. Early GIS systems were proprietary in nature and very expensive.

The new system had to be as easy to use and as functional as ONCE. In order to meet the demands of the one-call environment, we combined two leading edge technological features that have now become commonplace: on-screen mapping and a Graphical User Interface. This powerful combination was then seamlessly integrated into the call center work environment and dubbed PRISM.

As part of its goal to be a total damage prevention solution provider, One Call Concepts, Inc. formed a contract locating company in 1990. One Call Concepts Locating services Inc. is dedicated to exceeding its customers’ expectations by providing high quality damage prevention services. Since its inception, OCCLS has maintained a reputation of reducing damages to its customers’ facilities while lowering the overall costs for underground plant locating.
